Head to These Parks to Enjoy a Beautiful Picnic in Fayetteville

The weather in North Carolina is absolutely beautiful at this time of year. When the sun hangs high in the sky, there’s no better time to enjoy a socially distanced picnic in Fayetteville. If you’re looking for a great picnic spot near Legacy at Cross Creek, check out these local parks that are all just a short drive from our apartments in Fayetteville, NC:

Roy G. Turner Park

Roy G. Turner Park is a quiet nook with tree-lined trails and picnic pavilions.  It’s the type of place you’d easily miss if you weren’t looking for it. A ten-minute drive north of our community, it’s the perfect spot for a BBQ. If you want to make an evening of it, stop by Carolina Ale House off of Glensford Drive on your way over. You can pick up some popcorn chicken and pink lemonade to-go. After all, this is the stuff that picnic tables were made for.

J. Bayard Clark Park and Nature Center

If you’re looking for a location with more activities, check out J. Bayard Clark Park and Nature Center. This beautiful park is a conservation site for native North Carolina flora and fauna. You can hike the trails that stretch along the Cape Fear River. Be sure to keep your eyes out for nesting birds. Alternatively, you can also check out Clark’s summer programs. They offer activities ranging from stargazing to talks on edible plants. However, if you’re just in the market for a classic picnic, you can do that here, too. With plenty of space, it’s easy to spread out and enjoy a socially distanced meal.

Mazarick Park

Mazarick Park occupies a sprawling 80 acres on the banks of Glenville Lake, and it’s just 15 minutes east of our apartments in Fayetteville. When you go to picnic there, you can also go on a hike, or fish in the lake. Remember to confirm your license is valid if you want to fish though.

Now that you know all about these great parks, it’s time to head outside for a picnic in Fayetteville. You can pack your own food or order takeout from local restaurants.
