Check Out These Offerings From The Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation Department

From parks to museums, the Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation department keeps residents of Legacy at Cross Creek busy throughout the year. There’s always something new to discover, from blooming flowers to fascinating exhibits. The department offers several attractions, programs, and more near our Fayetteville apartments. Here are three you don’t want to miss:

1. North Carolina Veterans Memorial Park

True to its name, the North Carolina Veterans Memorial Park honors those who have bravely served our country. The veterans hail from more than 100 North Carolina counties and come from all Armed Services branches. The park itself is also quite unique, as it was built with raw materials from all across the state. You can visit year-round to enjoy the park’s peaceful water features, 100 different hand sculptures, and more.

2. Adult Sports Leagues

Whether you want to take to the court or field, the Parks & Recreation department has something for you. That’s because the FCPR runs many different adult sports leagues. Depending on the season, you can play basketball, softball, kickball, and more. The leagues welcome athletes 18 and over, and no prior experience is necessary. If you want to join, you can sign up online.

3. Cape Fear River Trail

Stretching about 5.5 miles, the Cape Fear River Trail welcomes bikers, joggers, and walkers from all across North Carolina. The terrain varies from flat to slightly hilly, so this trail is perfect for an easy ride or stroll. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the mature trees and plants surrounding the path. You may even spot lizards, frogs, or turtles. If you want to learn more about the trail’s plants and wildlife, you can read informational signs that the FCPR posts throughout the park. It’s important to note that the trail is not a loop. You can visit Cape Fear daily between 8:00 a.m. and dusk.

After discovering all that the Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation department has to offer, enjoy outdoor dining at a local restaurant. You can sample juicy burgers, seafood, pasta, and more.
